Key Distinguishing characteristics
This is a 2 ½ story, symmetrical house with the second-story overhang in the front. The traditional ornamentation is four carved drops (pineapple or acorn shape) below the overhang.

Other Distinguishing Characteristics

  • Exterior chimney at the end
  • Older versions have casement windows with small panes of glass
  • Later versions have double-hung windows
  • Second-story windows often are smaller than those on the first floor
  • Dormers often break through the cornice line
